Lessons from this month
- What were your major accomplishments in the past month, and how did you help to achieve movement goals?
Response: The many preparations on content upload from museums, which will enhance the quality on the projects. The number of teachers standing in line to learn about the projects, and the ones that we are already working with will foster a new generation of Wikimedians.
- What were your major setbacks in the past month (e.g., programs that were not successful)?
Response: The community is not very positive about the Article Feedback Tool. We will probably have to test other concepts on reader feedback.
- What factors (organizational, environmental) enabled your success?
Response: Generally, there is a big curiosity amongst other organisations on how they could live in the Wikimedia universe. This means it is quite easy to get in contact with people and get their attention.
- What unanticipated challenges did you encounter and how did this affect what you were able to accomplish?
Response: This year we are doing our financial report in a much higher standard than required in order to be transparent and have good orders. It was a lot harder than we thought and our treasurer and financial administrator have been working hard on this. Luckily it has not affected our programs very much at all.
- What changes might you make in executing your initiatives into the next month?
Response:
Additional information
- Provide any other relevant information that may be helpful or relevant for the FDC (e.g., links to any media coverage, more detailed reports, more detailed financial information).
Response:
- The National Museum of Technology put a portrait of chairman Jan Ainali on the wall in their Walk of Nerds for his passion for Wikipedia. [1], [2]
- In a managements course, Wikimedia Sverige got to serve as a case study. Six managers came to the office for one day and learned about the chapter and our growth and had to come up with ideas and strategies for future work. One major finding is that is imperative to find long-term funding to gain stability for the chapter. Other findings were ways to improve internal communications.
- Board member Ylva Pettersson was interviewed in The Teachers' News (Lärarnas nyheter) about how she use Wikipedia in the classroom. https://twitter.com/WikiiSkola/status/297759545369956352 (in Swedish)
- Former board member Lennart Guldbrandsson concluded his time as a Wikipedian in Residence at the Swedish National Heritage Board in Cult, the Cultural heritage magazine (Kult). http://svensktkulturarv.se/filearchive/7/7350/kult1-2013.pdf (pdf, in Swedish)
- Our GLAM manager Axel Pettersson was interviewed in the Swedish daily paper (Svenska Dagbladet) about his choice of working in the non-profit sector. http://www.svd.se/naringsliv/karriar/din-fritid-kan-gora-dig-till-jobbvinnare_7834712.svd (in Swedish)
Compliance
Is your organization compliant with the terms outlined in the grant agreement?
- As required in the grant agreement, please report any deviations from your grant proposal here. Note that, among other things, any changes must be consistent with our WMF mission, must be for charitable purposes as defined in the grant agreement, and must otherwise comply with the grant agreement.
- Response
- Since the grant from Vinnova was quite specified we recruited a GLAM-technician which was not specifically in the plan in the grant proposal. However since that project is a key driver for Wiki Loves Public Art (by setting up a similiar infrastrucuture to Wiki Loves Monuments benefitial to all chapters and language projects), the shift in focus is still very well aligned with the WMF mission.
- Are you in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations as outlined in the grant agreement? Please answer "Yes" or "No".
- Response
- Yes
- Are you in compliance with provisions of the United States Internal Revenue Code (“Code”), and with relevant tax laws and regulations restricting the use of the Grant funds as outlined in the grant agreement? Please answer "Yes" or "No".
- Response
- Yes
